Five Stones Hostel description

Offering colorful themed rooms with designs that showcase Singapore’s local culture, Five Stones Hostel has both dormitories and private rooms. Located in the vibrant Kampong Glam, it provides free Wi-Fi and free all-day drinks.

Dormitory beds come with an individual reading light, a blanket, and a security locker. Private rooms feature a flat-screen TV, DVD player, and towels. Guests share usage of bathrooms with toiletries and hot showers.

Five Stones Hostel is within 8 minutes’ walk of Bugis MRT Station. It is about 40 minutes’ train journey from Changi Airport.

What was the highlight of Five Stones Hostel
A hostel that might have lost it's mojo
Location is OK with access to everything by bus, and Bugis station but that's mostly thanks to Singapore's extensive transport network. The closeby golden mile complex has a cheap food court and bus terminal for Malaysia. There is Netflix and a nice couch for the rainy days. The laundry machines are free. Some staff (mostly the guys) were really nice and helpful.
Some staff was openly aggressive or didn't care. The atmosphere was gloomy, hosts not socializing. The common area is separated from the dormitory (you have to go outside to the next building). The breakfast was made of cheap unhealthy sugary stuff (toasts, processed cereals). The surrounding restaurants area was touristy/very expensive. The bathrooms were cleaned only once a day and often dirty and not appealing. My first room was damp and moldy as a guest was staying there 24h and lowered the aircon. The second one, people were sick because the aircon was too cold haha you have to choose. (plus an incredible concentration of heavy snorers, many old guys). Only one local ATM in a 10min walking range that charges you 5$ extra fee! The hostel also charge a % fee if you pay by card, so withdraw cash from foreign banks while you can at the airport.

Really good Singapore base
Amazing location near two subway stations, really helpful and friendly staff. Really nice communal area, great free breakfast. Beds comfortable and dorms were nice.
The the beds in the dorm were quite creaky so you wake up a few times in the night from that. The bathroom had a lot of little midges in.

If you are on a budget but still expect good service and comfort then Five Stones
Staff were very friendly and accomodating at all times. The hostel was always clean and tidy and exceptional value for money
Some rooms don’t have a view or windows however I only slept in the room at night so this was not really a problem.
